Conceptualization

Every web site is designed based on a concept. It defines what to show and how to show it. From the users' side, it is about what to find and how to find it. I always strive to establish concept from both sides of view.

Specifications and Information Architecture

I have developed the idea of user-centered design in the Industrial Design program. Now I use this skill to define specifications of a web site. Based on the concept, I think of contents, usability, structure of the web site, interactive navigation, and at last but not least, visual design elements.

There are two kinds of people; those who can organize things and those who cannot. Thankfully, I am one of the former ones. I use this skill to organize contents and establish information architecture.

Coding

I admit that I am not a hard-core web developer. The main focus is design, and I only make static web sites. I always use Adobe Dreamweaver and do not manually type html documents. Having said that, coding is still important for various reasons; maintenance, usability, search engine optimization (SEO) and so on. My skill to organize also works to maintain decent coding with great help of Dreamweaver.

Graphic Design

Images are definitely very important graphic elements on web sites. I also consider layout of web pages as graphic design. In any media, design is not all about aesthetic. In case of web sites, usability is one of very important design implications. Text plays an important role in usability, and I consider text from both sides; usability and graphic design.

Maintenance

Maintenance is important for various reasons; updating information, search engine optimization (SEO), introducing new web design techniques, or simply for refreshing mind. As mentioned above, I use my skill to organize information to define the structure of a web site as well as for decent coding in the development phase. This also works for easy maintenance at later stages.
